Gfresh signs agreements to change Canada’s seafood trade for good

Last week, we did some pretty incredible things at the 2016 BC Seafood Expo in Comox Valley, Vancouver… On the final day of an awesome expo (Friday, June 10th), we signed industry-first agreements with both the Comox Valley Economic Development Society and the China Certification and Inspection Group Canada (CCICCA). Both of which will give BC seafood exporters on Gfresh the most streamlined and simplest trade route to China’s booming market possible. Our Co-founder and Vice President, Anthony Wan, also delivered an epic keynote speech on e-commerce and seafood, it’s future direction and some winning strategies British Columbia seafood exporters are already finding success with at the online marketplace.

Our new strategic agreement with CCIC Canada formalises discussions to develop a pre-shipment inspection solution for Canadian exporters on the Gfresh platform. CCIC Canada are authorized by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (Chinese customs) to administer customs testing and certification for Canadian produceexports before their departure for China. So the potential solution will mean that Canadian exports through Gfresh, bound for China, will be certified for Chinese customs before even leaving Canada. They'll also undergo far lower inspection and detainment rates than usual, essentially being fast-tracked through customs, directly to their end buyers.

The second agreement comes in the way of a Memorandum of Understanding between Gfresh and the Comox Valley Economic Development Society - a government-backed organisation representing a significant portion of the British Columbia seafood industry. By working together with the Comox Valley Economic Development Society, we’re putting plans into place aimed at developing solutions to grow BC seafood exports to China and the world by utilising our simple and direct online platform. It also means we’ll be showcasing some of British Columbia’s top seafood suppliers in November this year at FreshCon - the world’s first e-commerce focused seafood convention, hosted by Gfresh at the 2016 Qingdao Seafood Expo...
