Despite the country’s modest size, the Seafood Expo is the world’s largest seafood trade event.
The expo attracts 26,000 buyers, suppliers, media, and other seafood professionals from over 140 countries.
Meet with exhibitors who specialize in:
• Live, fresh and frozen seafood
• Value-added and processed seafood
• Processing and packaging equipment
• Freight forwarders and logistical services
• Seafood-industry service providers
The expo takes place in the Brussels Expo building and is situated at the foot of the jaw-dropping Atomium structure, which was built to represent an iron crystal cell magnified 165 billion times.
But, of course, people aren’t attending simply to take in the city’s incredible architecture and stroll along cobblestone streets amid enchanting canals.
One of the big draws to the Brussels expo for industry representatives is the Seafood Excellence Global Awards.
The honors are handed out to winners in the best retail product and best hotel/restaurant/catering product categories. At the judge’s discretion, awards might also be given for products in areas like innovation, convenience, health and nutrition, retail packaging and best seafood product line.
With the innovations in the seafood industry today, coupled with the fast-expanding market, the awards represent a major accomplishment for winners. It will be exciting to see which companies raise the bar this year.
Business is always top of mind at events like these, of course. And a world-class expo like this is hard to beat in terms of exposure and potential connections.
Buyers and suppliers from around the globe attend and there is a great deal to gain by connecting with industry up-and-comers, as well as those with an established position in the market.
Just some of the industries represented include airlines, government and military, hotels, hospitals, resorts, grocery chains, high-volume catering, fast food chains, schools, and wholesalers.
For us at Gfresh, we look forward to seeking out burgeoning regions, and helping seafood suppliers expand their sales in China and Hong Kong.
Brussels is known for many things, especially edible delights, including waffles, chocolate and, of course, beer.
There are 800 brands of beer for sale in the city, and some go particularly well with seafood.
If you are planning to attend the event, you would be remiss not to try a Belgian-style Saison with a bowl of mussels for a perfect pairing.
