GOAL for aquaculture production and sustainability

As GOAL wrapped up on September 22, 2016, Gfresh takes time to reflect on the topics covered at the event. 

So, wait…what is GOAL?

GOAL stands for ‘Global Outlook on Aquaculture Leadership’ and is an annual conference organized by Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA). It focuses on aquaculture production and sustainability.  This year, over 400 professionals from around the world attended the conference along with 70 speakers and multiple panel discussions.

Among the speakers was Gfresh’s own International Business Development Director, Helen Gao, who spoke about how online B2B seafood sales represent a small but fast growing segment of the global seafood trade. 

Anthony Wan, Gfresh VP and Co-Founder, also spoke about the challenge of introducing a new avenue for fresh and live seafood sales and how it presents an opportunity to small producers that have traditionally struggled to break into international markets.

Other topics included were ‘Trends in Seafood Branding in China’ by Fan Xubing, 'Global Finfish Production Data & Analysis' by Ragnar Tveteras and ‘Supply Chain Accountability’ by Jeremy Prepscius.

Everyone at Gfresh is looking forward to next year’s GOAL, as keeping current with global aquaculture trends means making better decisions.
